MULTICARE INDIGO

2 InsetSlide™ doors closing off clinic exam rooms.

With Multicare Indigo building several new clinics, there being just enough time to develop some extrusions and knowing that their founding sister company Goldfinch Brothers was on board to execute a quality install of the new product, the timing was finally right and the InsetSlide™ system was launched in 2016.

When BCRA Architects of Tacoma WA approached Goldfinch Brothers and AD Systems with a design request for their upcoming MultiCare Indigo outpatient clinics, it was the perfect opportunity to roll out a new product design to meet the space needs and aesthetic intent for the projects. AD Systems originally started fabricating doors specifically intended NOT to be pocket doors, as in healthcare and many other occupancies, pocket doors simply do not pass muster. Over many years and many project designs however, AD Systems was often approached by architects who desired a more flush look than their mainstay surface-mounted barn door design. With Multicare Indigo building several new clinics, there being just enough time to develop some extrusions and knowing that their founding sister company Goldfinch Brothers was on board to execute a quality install of the new product, the timing was finally right and the InsetSlide™ system was launched in 2016.

The first project to make use of the new InsetSlide™ design, which features a door that slides over a sidelite where both the door and sidelite can fit within the rough opening (as opposed to proud of the wall with a standalone barn door design), was Multicare Indigo James Center in Tacoma, WA. The doors feature a flush wood door with applied signage and a decorative glass sidelite that allows for daylighting while safeguarding visual privacy. The inset design meets the key design intent of having the door rest flush with the wall, for a clean aesthetic and preservation of hallway clearances down the corridors. InsetSlide™ was far from the only innovative aspect of Madison center and the other Indigo Clinics

AD Systems is now pleased to offer InsetSlide™ as a standard product offering that can incorporate flush wood or aluminum stile and rail doors with glass, markerboard or panel sidelites that can fit the needs of a wide range of products. “It was a privilege to work with BCRA and Andersen Construction to make this design intent a product reality. It brings us back to our early days in 2008, being approached to build a sliding door solution that met the very specific needs of a healthcare project [Seattle Children’s Ambulatory Surgery Center]. We love any opportunity to work with architects to find new ways to improve our products or add features that they know their clients will appreciate,” says Tysen Gannon, Business Development Manager at AD Systems.
